Go Giants Go!
In an awesome start to the 2015 season Nelson Giants American import players DeRon Scott & Mackenzie Moore ran three training sessions for Fulton Hogan players. It was great to see players from all 3 divisions enjoying and benefiting from DeRon & Mackenzie's coaching.
In the third session it was an added bonus to have local Giant Finn Delaney join the coaching team. Thank you to DeRon, Mackenzie, and Finn for your time, expertise, and encouragement, and all the very best for an outstanding season with the Giants. GO GIANTS GO!
On Saturday 18th April twelve Division 1 players from the Fulton Hogan Basketball League had the opportunity to play at half- time at the Nelson Giants v Taranaki Mountainairs NBL game at Saxton Stadium.
Despite some pre-match nerves, the players demonstrated strong team work, enthusiasm, and great sportsmanship. The large crowd showed their support for a great preseason game. Well done to all the players and thanks to the Volunteers and Giants Management.
We've been incredibly lucky this season to have support from Angus (Gus) Riley at training sessions. Gus is home in Nelson during his summer break from Bryant University, Rhode Island, USA. Gus has made time to come along and coach at The Thunder & The Knights training. The teams are also joined by players from the Broadgreen Gold team and family members - it's made for a lot of top training. THANKS GUS!
